The car left the factory on 13th of December 1949 and was immediately delivered to Soc. An. Italiana Chlorodont, an Italian toothpaste manufacturer. In 1959 the car was shipped to US to the hands of Steve Kramer from Flushing, New York. It returned to Europe only after it was purchased by our client.

An interesting fact explains why is the steering wheel placed on the right hand side, even though in Italy cars were driven on the right hand side since 1920s. Most drivers preferred right-hand drive cars, and this applied especially to premium cars – while a humble Fiat Topolino had its steering wheel on the left, nearly all Alfa-Romeos and Lancias did have it on the right. Some say it was to allow the driver to avoid dirty roads by stepping out of the car directly on to a pavement, but a much better explanation was the condition of Italian roads back then, being very narrow with non-existing road shoulder. Therefore it was much beneficial to control the car from the right hand side. This remained a standard in Italy until early 1960s.

The car arrived to our workshop mainly in boxes, with some parts being simply duct taped to the body. Only after thorough inspection we concluded happily, that the car was in a rather good shape - especially the body was healthier than it seemed on the first glance. Also, the boxes contained nearly all parts, so the car could be described as complete, to our relief.

The restoration included stripping the body back to the bare metal and subsequent paintjob, making it stunning red. The chassis was completely renewed, with new brake lines and wheel bearings. A new clutch was installed. All metal parts were zinc-plated. The engine was refurbished, receiving new pistons. The cherry on top is the cream leather upholstery and convertible roof.

Throughout the restoration process we focused on originality and authenticity.
